Explicit Memory
An Explicit Memory is a memory in which is true that you recall. This may be a fact or an experience that you remember doing or hearing about. In order for these memories to exsist a person must retrieve them and declare them. This is why they are also called declarative memories. An explicit memory is controlled by the hippocampus. An example of an explicit memory is if you were to remember the exact day and time The Sears Towers were hit by a terrorist. If you are able to remember something like this then you have an explicit memory.
